We're offering for sale this book, "Masterpieces of Women's Costume of the 18th and 19th Centuries", written and illustrated by Aline Bernstein, published in 1959, under the auspices of The American National Theatre and Academy by Crown Publishers, Inc. New York. Although the dust jacket is a bit rough around the edges, this book is in good condition. As quoted from inside dust jacket, "This book contains 32 exquisitely printed color plates, faithfully drawn from original period costumes by the noted theatrical designer Aline Bernstein." "This is a must have book for fashion designers, dressmakers, students of the theater and the history of tcostume, and to designers of stage, movie and television period productions. There are also 51 correlated line drawings of appropriate accessories, such as shoes, undergarments, gloves, headgear, as well as pattern plates." The color plates are suitable for framing,,,,in fact, all of the illustrations are on heavy paper, and the back side of each is blank, and when framed, they would make a beautiful ensemble on the wall of your tailoring room.
