EARLY SILVER & LEATHER PURSE POCKETBOOK FILIGREE WORK $79U.S.
We're offering for sale this Early Vintage Leather Purse Pocketbook with incredible filigree work. I recently purchased a pocketbook collection and this great rare find was tucked away in the bottom of the box. I believe this could possibly be from the Civil War Era or before, and I think it is sterling (but, not having a test kit, can't say for sure) I did try to take a picture of the hallmarks on the frame and hopefully, someone will know who made this wonderful purse and if indeed, it is sterling. The purse is made up of black leather and is in good condition. The leather is soft and pliable and in good condition with no rips or tears. The filigree work on the silver is just so intricate and delicate, just amazing. At one point, the purse had a chain or handle attached to the frame by little loops on each side but, this is the way we got it and it easily could be carried as a clutch. The lining has a nice early repair and shows a good deal of hand stitching, and in very usable condition. I think this purse a rare find, and would make a great addition to someone's collection of vintage purses!!!
